GOOD SAM’S DAY
Our inaugural Good Sam's Day was absolutely wonderful. We welcomed 12 Good Samaritan sisters to our school today. A number of ex-staff members including 2 former principals were in attendance. We shared a prayer ritual and assembly with them and it was great to unveil our magnificent plaques which have been fixed to a sandstone block in the memorial garden. The sisters really enjoyed visiting classrooms and sharing memories with our boys and girls, while our students demonstrated their knowledge of the Good Samaritan order and their contribution to the St James story.
The presence of Fr. Brian Fitzpatrick and Mr Neville McDonald from Brisbane Catholic Education was also greatly appreciated. Following the classroom visits we had a mini-fair. All proceeds from the fair will go to support the work of the Good Sams in the Philippines. A big thank you to the P & F and in particular Angie Sampson for the lovely cake which the P & F kindly donated to the school to mark this memorable occasion, and to Paul O'Connor for his amazing photography skills. I'd also like to thank and congratulate Miss Hayley Galvin for her planning of the day. We hope to make this a yearly tradition at St James.
