Community News

SCHOOL RENEWAL
Our school continually evaluates how we are travelling and where we wish to head across a range of areas. We evaluate elements of school life each year and reflect on these as we prepare our yearly action plan.

Every five years we are visited by a panel from Brisbane Catholic Education and they spend the day in discussion and reflection on how we manage school renewal as well as look at the achievements we have made as a community. The panel will be at our school on May 29.

Currently the School Board is managing a school wide process to develop a Strategic Renewal Plan for the next five years. Below, is a link to Survey Monkey and a survey that the School Board would greatly appreciate being completed in order to develop the strategic plan. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey in the coming week. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/S5FJN6D

ST ANTHONYS INVITATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY

Last Wednesday 9th May a group of fit and keen children from years 4 – 7 participated in the St Anthony's Invitational Cross Country Carnival. All of the children gave of their very best and are congratulated on their excellent results:

It was very exciting for our small school to come home with a first place shield for the Intermediate Girls Division thanks to the wonderful results from Ruby and Phoebe. Congratulations also to Prince for his first place in the Senior Boys Division. Special thank you to Mrs Hyde and all of the parents who came to support the children.

ST JAMES SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

Our annual school Cross Country event is on next Tuesday May 22nd at Langlands Park, Main Ave from 9am – 11am. Please mark the new date in your diaries and return the permission slips as soon as possible to your child's teacher. Support will be needed on the morning along the course and also to help set up from 8:30am. Please see Jeanita Muggeridge if you can lend a hand.

ACTIVE SCHOOL TRAVEL ~ Be Active and WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL on Friday 18 May

Friday 18 May 2012 is Walk Safely to School Day. Walk Safely to School Day is an annual, national event when all primary school children are encouraged to walk safely to school. It promotes road safety, health, and the environment.

To celebrate Walk Safely to School Day, Students can wear crazy socks. Being part of the Active School Travel program, we are already leading by example and encouraging our students to actively travel every week. Being part of a national day also shows our students they are part of a much bigger, national movement encouraging healthier habits and a greener environment. So join in the fun, be active and healthy, and walk to school with your child on the 18 May!
