The library is key to the learning and teaching at St James Primary. Children come to read, borrow, browse, create and play in this vibrant learning centre. The library is open at second break every day and before school on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s and during the day for class lessons and small group work.
The library has an extensive range of junior fiction, fiction and non fiction books and a range of resources for teachers and parents.
All the children have a scheduled borrowing time each week whereby they can choose books to take home and extended lesson times either terms 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. During the extended lesson time the teacher librarian works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to offer further experiences and provide resources to enhance the classroom learning and the curriculum focus.
