Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

One of our biggest challenges as an inner city school is the safety and efficiency of the Drop-Off and Pick-Up procedures for our students. We thank our families for their understanding and adoption of practices currently in place around the school – in particular, before and after school. Below are listed some reminders for our families at these busy times of the school day.

Drop-Off

  • Families are asked to ensure that their child/ren are ready to exit the vehicle.
  • During supervised times 8.20-8.40am, a staff member will direct children exiting their cars to remain behind the safety barriers which cross the walkway at the front of the drop off bay.
  • The staff member will then supervise student’s entry into the school grounds.
  • Year 5/6 students are usually assisting at the gate allowing younger students to enter immediately. The internal bitumen play area is supervised by a teacher on duty at 8.20 till 8.40.
  • If students come into the school grounds before 8.20, they sit at the deck area and wait for instructions when the the supervising teacher comes on duty at 8.20.
  • If you are dropping your child off before morning supervision begins, please remember that the Drop and Go Zone is a two-minute zone. Therefore, if you are concerned about their safety between your car and entry gate to the school, please don’t hesitate to walk them to the gate.
  • During supervised times, parents are asked to move off from the Drop-Off Zone straight away.

Pick-Up

  • Please have your visor card on display so that staff may call for students as you arrive. If you need a new card, please contact the school office to have a new one printed.
  • Please respect our neighbouring residents and do not wait across driveways whilst in line
  • Numerous teachers are assisting with the loading of students from 3pm until 3:20pm. (The zone is usually clear by 3:15pm allowing for a direct run down Kirkland Ave.)
  • If you are picking your child up after afternoon supervision ends, please remember that the Drop and Go Zone is a two-minute zone. Therefore, if you are concerned about their safety between the entry gate to the school and your car, please don’t hesitate to walk them from the gate to your car. *This is sometimes the case if you are picking your child up after after-school supervision finishes from an extra-curricular activity (like chess, tennis).

We are very conscious of the safety of the students and ask that families keep reminding their children that they need to be alert and be thinking of others at these times of the day.

Please remember, NO three point turns from the pick-up line.
This is extremely dangerous and causes a halt to the collection process.
