Holy Week

Holy Week begins with remembering the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Palm Sunday is next Sunday and begins the holiest of weeks in our church calendar. During the week, the children have participated in thoughtful re-enactments and activities of the events of Jesus’ passion, trial, crucifixion and resurrection, including Palm Sunday, The Last Supper and Washing of the Disciples’ Feet, Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus’ Crucifixion and Resurrection. Each student will leave a butterfly on the tuckshop Lenten Tree as a reminder that Easter Sunday is the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection and new life.

On Friday, the Year 5/6 class will respectfully lead us in a Holy Week liturgy of the Stations of the Cross and then a celebration of Easter. We thank Year 5/6, Mr Hunter and all the classroom teachers for leading the classes through these activities this week.

Let us journey together with Jesus by participating in the Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday as the one celebration it is meant to be. Please refer to parish Mass times in the newsletter. Easter is more than hot cross buns and chocolate and by celebrating at Mass, the stories that the children have heard during this week will further assist with their spiritual journey. Wishing you all many blessing this Eastertime.
