Our Vision for Religious Education

St James School shares and promotes the Vision for Religious Education as articulated by Brisbane Catholic Education to:

“Aspire to educate and form students who are challenged to live the gospel of Jesus Christ and who are literate in the Catholic and broader Christian tradition so that they might participate critically and authentically in faith contexts and in wider society.'

(Religious Education, Archdiocese of Brisbane Curriculum, P-12)

The Vision for Religious Education at St James emulates the BCE Catholic Identity Framework; however, it has been recontextualised to meet the St James School motto of “Learn (Head) and Act (Hands) with Heart (Heart) and Mind (Head)". Below is a description of the various entities that collectively combine to form the school's Vision for Religious Education.

The Vision for Religious Education challenges students to be a religious voice in the world. The Vision gives greater prominence and a renewed orientation to the critical interpretation and evaluation of culture. Through vibrant and engaging Religious Education lessons, students become active constructors of culture rather than passive consumers as they stive to live out the motto, 'to learn and act with heart and mind'. Religious Education at St James aims to develop the religious literacy of students, fostering an environment based on the St James values of Faith, Learning and Community.
