The Arts

​St James Primary School is proud of its strong Arts program. St James has a dedicated Arts teacher who ​is a specialist in providing learning experiences in the whole Arts Curriculum – Visual Art, Music, Drama and Media. All students in Prep to Year Six have a weekly Arts lesson.

In addition to the weekly Arts lesson, students have the opportunity to participate in instrumental music and choir. St James has a vibrant instrumental program for children in Years Three to Six.

A Specialist Instrumental Teacher teaches the children for one half hour lesson in small groups and another half hour band or guitar ensemble rehearsal throughout the school day.

The band participates in festivals such as the Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival (QCMF) in August, Music Fest in October/November and other times during the year.

  • ​Wind - flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone (alto/tenor)
  • Brass - trumpet, trombone, euphonium
  • Guitar
