Technology and Learning

mini.jpgAt St James Primary, we aim to ensure that all students benefit from learning about and working with traditional, contemporary and emerging technologies that shape the world in which we live.  In 2016 we have implemented a one to one mini iPad programme for our Yr5/6 class and are looking to expand this programme in the coming years.  There are iPad’s, laptops and / or desktop computers in all of our classes.

St James Primary has worked very hard to plan for and implement ‘The Australian Curriculum: Technologies’. This Key Learning area is composed of two distinct but related subject areas.
  • Design and Technologies, where students can use design thinking and technologies to generate and produce solutions for real world problems, and
  • Digital Technologies, in which students use computational thinking and information systems to define, design and implement digital solutions.technologies.jpg
The practical nature of the Technologies learning area engages students in critical and creative thinking. Technologies is a problem solving area where students start to draw on a range of skills and seek out various resources.  Through creative and inventive teaching, the children at St James Primary are encouraged to be innovative, independent and collaborative in their learning.
