Technology and Learning

At St James Primary, we aim to ensure that all students benefit from learning about and working with contemporary and emerging technologies that shape the world in which we live. In each classroom across Prep to Year Six, students have iPads to enhance their learning.

St James Primary implements The Australian Technologies Curriculum. This Key Learning area is composed of two distinct but related subject areas:

  • Design and Technologies, where students can use design thinking and technologies to generate and produce solutions for real world problems, and

  • Digital Technologies, in which students use computational thinking and information systems to define, design and implement digital solutions.

The practical nature of the Technologies learning area engages students in critical and creative thinking. Technologies is a problem-solving learning area where students start to draw on a range of skills and seek out various resources. Through creative and inventive teaching, the children at St James Primary are encouraged to be innovative, independent and collaborative in their learning.
